Welcome to Crooked Gate Stables. We hope you enjoy your visit with us. We are located in south central Iowa, approximately an hour from the Missouri border to the south and approximately an hour from Des Moines, to the north. We pride ourselves in raising top quality gaited saddle mules. Our breeding program includes quality TWH mares of various colors and sizes. We have hand picked each mare based on their dispostion, conformation, gait, and color. We have worked with TWH breeders that have been raising quality TWH for years. These breeders have been very helpful in our search for the best mares , that have the highest potential to produce gaited mules. For our jack, we have chosen a large standard donkey. We feel the large standard donkey helps keep the mules refined, and athletic. We purchased our jack from an old friend that has been buying, selling, and raising quality saddle mules for over 40 years. His knowledge of mules has been very helpful to us as well.
